Our Spanish teaching methodology

Our teachers

The teachers at Bravo! Spanish are experts in language learning and acquisition. They have an academic research background into how people learn their mother tongue and other languages during their life. Furthermore, they have studied different language learning theories and they possess years of experience applying these theories during their Spanish lessons to guarantee an effective learning of the language.

Our lessons: A focus on communication

Spanish teaching methodology

At Bravo! Spanish we advocate for  interactive and dynamic lessons centered on communication skills. Our focus on communication during the lessons results in our students speaking Spanish for the majority of the lessons time and it allows us to teach vocabulary and grammar in context. This means that you will not be given lists of vocabulary or grammar rules that you need to simply memorise. Instead we will learn vocabulary with communicative and real life examples as we speak during the lessons, and we will see all grammar and vocabulary in context. Moreover, we believe that  learning a language also means understanding the culture behind it. During our lessons we will discuss cultural and social aspects of the Spanish speaking world.

Before, during, and after our lessons, you will receive personal feedback from your teacher. During the lessons we have a preference for feedback that helps the student to enter a self-reflection process in order to address his or her own mistakes. This means that, unless necessary, we will not correct you directly, but we will help you to think about the right answer yourself. We have experienced that making students aware of their own mistakes and guiding them through self-reflection to be able to correct their own mistakes is more beneficial for the student’s progress than giving the correct answer right away. Before and after the lesson you will receive feedback on written tasks and other types of homework that you want to work on.

For our lessons we use different language learning materials and resources. For instance, we like to use books from the publishing house Difusión. The books of this publishing house are well-known for defending a communicative approach and they present vocabulary and grammar in context. Difusión offers materials for different topics, levels and even different books for a focus on Spanish from Spain or from Latin America. In addition to this, we also make use of available online resources for Spanish teachers and materials that we have developed at Bravo! Spanish.

A mutual compromise

Being able to communicate in your native language was a learning process. It took you time, trials, errors and, lastly, mastery of your own language. In the same way as learning a native language is a life-process, learning a second language does take time. At Bravo! Spanish we are aware of the fact that every student has a different way to learn and a different learning pace. This is why we always adapt to your learning needs and we offer you an individual process that, together with your own study of the language, will help you master Spanish at the right tempo for you. At Bravo! Spanish we do not offer you a course based on a book that will end in 7 weeks with a certain target level. We offer a unique and personal course for each of our students that will help you to achieve long lasting goals.

We're a Spanish speaking community

We see Bravo! Spanish as a community and we also seek to learn from our students’ cultures. Through our social media channels our students get the chance to keep in contact with the Spanish language and share their own experiences. In this way you will broaden your knowledge while interacting with other members of the community.
